~ Meeting Places ~
The Canes meet for outings by default at the "CTL" meeting place described below. However, because of long drives or outings that start elsewhere than places accessible along the Northway, meeting times and places may be changed. Alternative and additional meeting places and/or times will be noted in the outing description. So please read it carefully.
WHERE we meet: "CTL" is our default meeting place. It is at the end of Carol Thomas Lane, Queensbury, NY, unless otherwise specified in an outing description, which is not uncommon, so read descriptions carefully. The parking lot is pretty substantial and never very busy.
WHEN we meet: 9.15am is our default meeting time at CTL for departure at 9:30. We allow 15 minutes to arrange car pooling. The default time may be superseded and otherwise specified in an outing description, which is not uncommon, so read descriptions carefully.
Directions To CTL (Northway exit 20)
From the North: Route I-87 (Northway) to Exit 20. At end of ramp, turn right onto State Route 149 / County 23 / Gurney Lane. Proceed 0.1 miles to Carol Thomas Lane (look for street sign, bike route sign, and Warren County Historical Association sign) turn right and follow 0.1 miles to the parking lot at the end.
From the South: Route I-87 (Northway) to Exit 20. At end of ramp, turn right onto Route 9 / 149. Proceed 0.25 miles. Turn right at the light onto State Route 149 / County 23 / Gurney Lane. Proceed 0.1 miles to Carol Thomas Lane (look for street sign, bike route sign, and Warren County Historical Association sign) turn right and follow 0.1 miles to the parking lot at the end.Directions for GPS: 50 Gurney Lane, Queensbury, NY or 43.35951 -73.70738 will get you to the beginning of Carol Thomas Lane.
Facilities and amenities near the CTL
Exit 19: Turn east on Aviation Road, drive a short distance to Lake George Bakery on the right, and, a bit further on, Starbucks on the left.Exit 20: Restrooms are available at WCMC (see map) at the south end of the main building just past the DMV and County Clerk offices. On Route 9 just north of WCMC there is a convenience store / gas station on the right and just beyond that, Stewarts is on the left.
Exit 21: A convenience store is located on the west side of the Northway on Route 9N.
