Go To The Gear Exchange Ads
On February 11, 2016 on a hike at Rush Pond, Peter Fedorick broached the idea developing "something" where Crooked Canes could tell folks about gear they want to sell .... or want to trade for something that someone else has .... or want pass along to someone .... or where a person could query the group on the availablity of something they are itching to get their hands on. And just like that, there it was, the Gear Exchange, born at lunch right there on the Rush Pond.
How To Buy Or Trade Items...
At the end of every ad is the name of the person who placed the ad. Click the name and you will be taken to the Attendee List where the person's contact information will be found. Make a call or send an email and you're on your way to making a deal.
Gear Exchange Traditions...
The Exchange's purpose is to provide an exclusive forum for Crooked Canes to let one another know of gear they wish to sell, acquire or swap. All ad submissions are carefully reviewed and accepted only for gear appropriate to Crooked Canes outings from Crooked Canes on the Attendee List who we know.
Advertiser's contact information shown in an ad is the advertiser's name only, shown exactly as it appears on the Attendee List. In ads, advertisers' names link to the Attendee List. On the Attendee list you'll have to look the name up of the person you wish to reach. In this manner, the Canes may have some some protection from bots stealing all of our email addresses.
Crooked Canes with phone and email contact information on the Attendee List may place ads. Anyone can buy or trade items listed and that makes the next paragraph important...
A Few Words Of Caution...
Personal online safety and fraud avoidance must be kept in mind as advertisers may receive responses from folks they do not know and who are not Crooked Canes. Anyone can find the Gear Exchange and the Attendee List and use the information there to contact anyone or all on the list. There is no practical way to restrict who might respond to an ad, nor any practical restrictions on who an advertiser may do business with. Scam and online safety are solely the advertiser's responsibilities. Fortunately, we know of zero instances of any monkey business but remember that if an inquiry by phone, email or text smells "scammy" it most likely is and should be ignored.
The Canes are invited to place ads in any of the three Exchange categories:
Stuff For Sale Or Trade: Items one hopes to sell for cash
Passing Stuff Along (for free!) Or To Trade: Items one hopes to give away or trade for something
Things Folks Want: Items one is hoping someone will no longer need and be willing part with for nothing in return or for cash or a trade.
